Parajet Skycar now available for pre-order

It seems as if there is a bit of competition for my personal favorite flying vehicle, the terrafugia. The Parajet Skycar pictured above is now available for pre-order.

The vehicle is completely street legal and can accelerate to 62mph in just 4.2 seconds, has a top speed of 140mph. In the flying mode, the car takes to the skies from the field in under 200m at a required speed of 37mph and the flight mode can reach speeds of up to 100mph. While I can appreciate the Parajet’s effort it doesn’t stand up to the terrafugia, because you need that creepy parachute to fly. For those of you who would like to make a pre-order a down payment of $16,000 is needed on the vehicle with a sticker price of $81,000.

Flying Car Soars through Flight Testing

Don’t kill me for the corny title…its a fuckin flying car!!! (well the first one that is actually getting somewhere)

As of June 3rd, 2009 Terrafugia Inc. had successfully completed the flight testing program design for its Transition Roadable Aircraft, also being known as The Flying Car,” the Transition has completed more than 27 flights at its test area in Woburn,MA since March 5th of this year. While the Proof of Concept vehicle is the first Transition to be built thus far,it has acheived its sought out goals. By successfully demonstrating driving, flying, and automated transformation between the two in one integrated aircraft they have made way for  Stage 2,which include their plans to release a Beta prototype in 2011.

We can certainly see ourselves getting high in with the Terrafugia. This is some serious shit and with a suggested retail of around $220,000,expect these to be a definite millionaire must-have. I’ll start saving now and maybe i’ll look into selling a kidney or something. Oh fuck it, do i need my knee caps?
