Cannabis is truly an amazing substance and that’s why I smoke so much. I will probably live until I’m 100, don’t quote me on that one, but I know i’ll get close. In a clinical abstract just published online on the Cancer Prevention Research website, a team of U.S. investigators report that marijuana use, even long-term, is associated with a “significantly reduced risk” of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.

This is not the first of these clinical trials. Marijuana related research has been taking place for years. yet it has been ignored by our stupid government and lobbied against by pharmacuetical companies. as well as passed over by mainstream media for fear of losing advertisers that benefit from the prohibition of marijuana. Advertisers like beer and alcohol companies, who if marijuana were legal, would surely lose a large percentage of profits to a substance that can’t kill you.  The funny thing is, Bush was doing coke, ignoring things like stem cell research and cannabis related research, fighting wars that were unnecessary and fucking Condoleeza Rice…..get serious world, the people that were aiding in his most shady actions are still in congress. They haven’t gone anywhere and they won’t unless we remove them by electing officials with productive ideas and pro-marijuana stances. Tokes to the researchers who take chances and blaze new paths, all pun intended.

Though it hasn’t been 100% confirmed, according to mikecann, World Champion MMA fighter Toby Grear will likely be a guest speker at the 20th annual Boston Freedom Rally in MA. The Boston Freedom Rally is an annual event in Boston, Massachusetts. Held on the third Saturday in September, it is traditionally the second largest annual gathering demanding marijuana law reform in the United States, after the Seattle Hempfest. It is organized by the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition (MASS CANN), the Massachusetts state affiliate of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws also known as MASS CANN/NORML.

Grear, who is currently smoking some trees on suspension from fighting for marijuana use, embraces and isn’t afraid to say that he enjoys cannabis and that’s why we think he is one of the perfect people for the job. He is a well educated public figure and it’s voices like his that we need because just last year in the state where the rally is to be held, cannabis supporters managed to get a question for decriminalization onto the Nov. ballot and it passed!!!! fucking yes marijuana posession has been decriminalized in Mass, but just like Grear, we know that is not enough. Legalization and ending prosecution are the only answers….so just like Toby, get ready for a fight, a fight of perseverance because progress is being made in marijuana law reform everyday. All consumers might want to stop using Zicam Nasal Gel and related products because according to the FDA it can be potentially very harmful to your sense of smell. By potentially very harmful we mean they think it can permanently fuck with with your sense of smell. The over-the-counter products contain zinc, an ingredient scientists say may damage nerves in the nose needed for smell.

The FDA is actually claiming that about 130 people have come forward reporting a loss of smell after using Matrixx Initiatives’ Zicam products since 1999. What the fuck Matrixx….are people letting Keanu Reeves manufacture nasal gel theses days, we know his career is hurting because of shit like lake house doing great and all but everyone has side jobs these days???

“Loss of the sense of smell is potentially life threatening and may be permanent,” said Dr. Charles Lee, of FDA’s compliance division. “People without the sense of smell may not be able to detect dangerous life situations, such as gas leaks or something burning in the house.”

Apparently Matrixx, the people who make Zicam have settled hundreds of lawsuits related to the use of its products in recent years but after looking on their site today they are still clearly telling consumers otherwise because this was posted on their site “No plaintiff has ever won a court case, because there is no known causal link between the use of Zicam Cold Remedy nasal gel and impairment of smell.” OK sure no one has actually “won a case” because you settle before they make it to trial…..Keanu Reeves is apparently making their statements as well because only Keanu would be puzzled by the task of thinking of a better way to form that lie….

MA Democrat Barney Frank and other supporters have re-introduced legislation to further protect state authorized medical marijuana patients. So far 13 states have adopted laws prohibiting the prosecution of medical marijuana patients that follow their states laws.

The medical marijuana patient protection act of 2009 seeks to do away with the discrepancy between the federal governments laws with regards to medicinal marijuana and the aforementioned 13 states current laws. If the act passes it would not only give many patients a very much needed sigh of relief and a bit more comfort in knowing that they wont have to always look over their shoulders when leaving a dispensary or their physicians office, but also a huge burden will be taken away from doctors in states that currently have medicinal marijuana laws. It will also stop more horrendous actions by the DEA, like in the case of Charles Lynch, who just last week was sentenced to 366 days in prison for spreading and promoting health.
