Now that President Obama has lifted restrictions on stem cell research, the US govt. is currently creating a master list of which embryonic stem cells qualify for taxpayer funded research.

The National Institute of health is still holding steady that it will only use cells culled from fertility clinic embryos that would otherwise be thrown away. They are not considering cells that were created specifically for research, because they are hiding behind an ignorant excuse maintaining their position of having rigorous ethical standards. Federal Law still prohibits using taxpayer money to create or destroy an embryo. The huge issue that our govt. is trying to deal with is how do we work with cells that were initially created using private money solely for research?

Our new rules take effect today, but the guidelines are much different from those held in the past. From now on, newly made stem cells must come with a receipt documentation stating that the woman who donated the embryo has given full consent. Such documentation is not included with donated stem cells that have essentially been sitting and waiting for the whole time that a dip-shit named George W. was in office.

It’s really about time that our country embraces this technology. I feel like weve possily missed numerous chances to make new strides in medicine for and treatment of degenerative diseases due to our lack of funding and support from our governement. A bunch of tokes go out to President Obama for making a socially conscious and much needed decision.
